OpenAI announced dots on 29 September 2026: remarkably capable, always-on agents powered by GPT-6 Astra. Each dot has its own cloud computer and browser, learns from feedback, and can work toward goals around the clock.
Through OpenAI’s plugin ecosystem, dots can connect to over 4,000 apps. You can reach a dot in ChatGPT (desktop, web, mobile), Slack, and Teams, with texting described as coming soon.
You stay in control: Custom Rules, Auto-review, approvals for consequential actions, and a separate cloud workspace. Local computer access is optional and starts off. See OpenAI’s safety post for the full model.
Rollout starts for Pro and Business Premium users in eligible markets. Enterprise (including Edu and Healthcare) can try a beta when an admin enables it. The first dot is included at no extra cost; plans include an allowance for deeper work, with extended limits for the first month after launch.
